Whether your kids go back this week or next week, the Labor Day weekend is, for the most part, the accepted point on the calendar when Summer turns into Fall. Around the area, you have probably already noticed the buzz of activity around many of our middle schools and high schools as staff have been prepping for the year and sports teams begin their practices in anticipation of the fall sports season. The students and teachers at West Chester Area SD and Unionville Chadds Ford SD schools are back in session for their first day today and other districts such as Garnet Valley will follow suit next week. We would like to remind everyone to be aware of posted speed limits in school zones each morning and afternoon. Also, please be aware of kids walking to and from the bus stop, school or local practice fields on the sides of roadways — especially those roads without shoulders. This time of the year calls for a little extra patience. Our commutes become longer and schedules change for families everywhere. It is best to take it easy and plan a little extra time into your morning drive, trip to and from school or even errand run.

We would like to wish all of the students, families, teachers and staff at all of the great schools in our area a successful 2017-18 school year! For those of you squeezing one last bit of fun out of this summer on Labor Day Weekend, please drive safe and have fun!
